A passionate technologist, Ricky founded Unicorn in 2001 with a background in corporate IT. In 2005, Ricky launched one of the first cloud computing platforms, ThinHost®, a pioneering virtual hosted desktop service which he sold in 2012. He wants to change the world of IT for SMEs by combining great leadership with world-class managed service provision. Outside of Unicorn, Ricky runs residential retreats and personal development programmes for people seeking deeper meaning in their lives, their relationships and their work.
Anne Barrett
Operations Director
Anne has worked for Unicorn since 2012 and is responsible for all operations, outsourcing relationships, premises, procurement and various strategic projects. She believes that having the customers’ best interests at heart helps create a sustainable business where people want to work. Anne also hosts a local business networking group and work to support with small business owners in her community.
Richard Smith
Client Service Director
Richard leads Unicorn’s client services team, and oversees our network of part-time IT Directors ensuring clients engagements are delivered with the highest level of quality and professionalism. Providing strategic oversight of all information technology activities, and working with IT service units across the business, Richard brings decades of experience and has a diverse background in both SME and corporate settings, with extensive experience in enterprise computing, as well as telecommunications.
Johnny Thwaites
Commercial Director
Johnny leads Unicorn’s dynamic team of sales consultants located across the UK. An experienced entrepreneur in his own right, Johnny spends his time recruiting, managing and inspiring a team of consultants dedicated to transforming the way businesses procure IT resources. Since 1990 his varied career has seen him open an early years school, develop a media replication agency, launch a flash storage DRM start-up, a music publishing venture, and a world-class video publishing platform.
